Breaking: Claudia Grey to Write Qui-Gon Obi-Wan novel "Master and Apprentice"
Incredibly exciting news coming out of the Star Wars publishing panel at San Diego Comic Con. “Lost Stars”, “Bloodline”, and “Leia: Princess of Alderaan” writer Claudia Grey has been announced to be writing “Master and Apprentice”. This novel will be Del Rey Publishing’s first story of the new canon to be set prior to The Phantom Menace.
Grey had been asked at Dragon Con last year what Star Wars character she would most want to write; her answer being Qui-Gon. Grey was able to make that wish come true with her story "Master and Apprentice" in "From a Certain Point of View". Now with a a full length novel of the same name, Grey can dive even deeper into the relationship between Qui-Gon and his Padawan.
This period of time prior to The Phantom Menace is one that many fans have been clamoring to see fleshed out. In Legends Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan's time together was shown in the "Jedi Apprentice" Scholastic novels, as well as in the "Last Stand on Ord Mantell" and "The Aurorient Express" comic minis. Returning to that dynamic is as the 10th anniversary of The Phantom Menace approaches is surely no coincidence.
With the return of The Clone Wars, as well as E.K. Johnston’s Padme novel, this SDCC has been one heck of a time for those wanting more prequel content.
